A must-have to support thermoregulation in high summer temperatures: functional vest with cooling insert on the chest and full-length zipper on the back for quick putting on and taking off. Simply dip the lower part of the vest in cool water and wring it out lightly. Then put the vest on your dog. The water slowly evaporates through the mesh material, creating a cooling effect for your four-legged friend, which can provide relief, especially for thicker fur. The effect lasts as long as the material is damp. This can vary depending on the outside temperature and sunlight. The thin outer fabric is also highly breathable and comfortable to wear. Important : Dogs cannot sweat through their skin like humans do. They only have sweat glands on their paws and otherwise compensate for heat exclusively by panting. The dog takes up to ten times as many breaths as normal in order to get rid of the heat and humidity and to cool the circulating blood. In addition, their fur not only offers protection, it can also be a burden in hot temperatures and make thermoregulation more difficult.

For this reason, there are a few rules you should follow in summer:

• In extreme heat, always provide your dog with shady areas and plenty of drinking water.
• Avoid walking in the midday heat and especially on hot asphalt. Instead, go for a longer walk in the forest in the evening and/or morning.
• Never leave your dog waiting in a closed car! At temperatures as low as 20 degrees Celsius, the car can heat up rapidly (up to 27 degrees after 10 minutes in the blazing sun!) and become a heat trap for the dog.
• The normal temperature of a dog is 37.5-39 degrees. At a body temperature of 41 degrees, the first circulatory problems appear: heavy panting, staggering, nausea and exhaustion. In the event of overheating, seek veterinary attention immediately.
